With the sour taste of defeats from the previous two league matches still fresh in the minds of the players & manger. The team took the short journey to the Cowdrey CC. On a bright sunny morning the skipper called heads at the toss & was rewarded with Her Maj smiling back at him when the coin finally stopped rolling. Peter elected to have a bowl.

With club Captain Larkin still on call it was down to Balders to don the captains armband and try to win an important toss. With a green top and plenty of moisture in the pitch the queens head staring up off muddy’s 50p spelt 40 overs first up in the field for the Bidborough boys. 2012 saw the first of what is hoped to be the annual U13 ‘six a side’ tournament. The concept of the HomeGuard cup ‘six a side’ competition was conceived by a few enthusiastic members of Bidborough & Speldhurst Cricket Clubs frustrated at the limited number of cricket matches offered to youngsters particularly given the rain which blighted the beginning of the 2012 season.
