Bidborough cricket club

An evening with Henry Olonga

Bidborough Cricket Club Annual Dinner on Friday 19th October with guest speaker Henry Olonga.

Making his international debut in 1995, Henry Olonga was the youngest player and first black cricketer to play for Zimbabwe.
Henry achieved international recognition in 2003 by wearing a black armband in a Cricket World Cup match to protest against the policies of Zimbabwe’s government. Thereafter Henry had to flee Zimbabwe from impending threats. He is now living in England and has continued to play cricket for the club that gave him refuge called Lashings.
